Peds, internal medicine residents; peds anesthesiology fellow join UMMC faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Constance P. Barnes-Woods, M.D.

Dr. Constance P. Barnes-Woods, recently a pediatric resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as chief resident and assistant professor of pediatrics.

After graduating as valedictorian of her high school and receiving her B.S. in biology with pre-medicine concentration under the valedictorian/salutatorian full academic scholarship at Jackson State University in 2009, Barnes-Woods earned a certificate in health sciences at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2011. She earned her M.D. in 2016 at UMMC, where she completed her pediatrics residency from 2016-19.

An active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association and the American Medical Women’s Association, Barnes-Woods is the coauthor of two publications in peer-reviewed professional journals and has authored numerous oral and poster presentations at scientific meetings nationally. She has also given an invited speech at a national conference.

Cofounder and chairwoman of the board of the Antwon and Constance Woods Family Foundation, which supports the lives of children through education, health and wellness, Barnes-Woods is a Barksdale Scholar at UMMC, having received the Don Mitchell full academic scholarship during medical school. She is a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society, the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society and numerous other organizations.

Andrew Dickinson Brown, M.D.

Dr. Andrew Dickinson Brown, recently an internal medicine resident at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor in medicine.

After receiving his B.S. summa cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2011, Brown served as a researcher in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at UMMC before earning his M.D. in 2016 at the Medical Center, where he had his internal medicine residency from 2016-19.

Recipient of the 2016 Helen Turner Academic Medicine Award, Brown is the author or coauthor of six scientific abstracts and three presentations at professional conferences nationally. He is a volunteer at the Jackson Free Clinic.

Forrest Campbell Duncan, M.D.

Dr. Forrest Campbell Duncan, recently a pediatric anesthesiology fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology.

After receiving his B.S. in biology magna cum laude from Furman University in 2005, Duncan earned his M.D. in 2013 at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. He then had a general surgery residency from 2013-14, an anesthesiology residency from 2015-18 and an anesthesiology fellowship from 2018-19 at UMMC.

Duncan has authored or coauthored eight research posters or presentations at scientific meetings nationally.
